The Best System Funtek Trampoline Review - www.funtekusa.com

We bought a System Funtek Trampoline in early 2012 and paid $699.00 for it. We have since tried to contact the company multiple times via email and phone. We get no reply by email and the phone mailbox is always full. I am creating this blog post to help you make an informed decision about this product.

My review of the product is simple:

1. The mat and frame are good.
2. Everything else is complete garbage and falls apart within 3 months.
3. The customer service is terrible.

Here is what the website states about this product:

"The SFT is the choice of parents because it is sturdy and durable. Don’t settle for less; for outdoor play, your family deserves a quality trampoline and you deserve peace of mind knowing the SFT enclosure is doing its job."

The rest of this post are actual photos of a System Funtek Trampoline taken 4 months after we first set it up (one summer of moderate use).

First we will start with this statement by the company.  So confident in their product they put it right here on the pad. You can already see the UV damage showing up to the left of the "Proof of Excellence".  This has been exposed to sun for 4 months.

Same pad as above near where people must step onto the trampoline to enter through the zipper in the mesh netting.  Again 4 months of use by kids under 10.

The zipper has been this way ever since it completely fell apart after 3 days of use.  I now have to tell my kids to stay away from this part of the net so they don't fall out of this hole when jumping.  This is clearly a safety hazard.

Close-up shot of the zipper you can see teeth missing after a few days of use.  Eventually the whole zipper fell off.

Another photo showing the poor quality of the zipper.  The handle slides right off the back due to missing teeth.

As mentioned above, the foam padding and spring pad cover are not UV rated and disintegrate after only a few months in the sun.  The foam padding leaves blue dust all over the mat on a regular basis.

  1. Hey there, thanks for putting this review up, sorry you had to suffer for the rest of us, but really good that you have at least helped other people avoid what looks like a really poor product. All we want is what we pay for - a durable product that lasts more than five years, should last ten. Even in Australian conditions). Certainly longer than a few months! Good luck with the manufacturer, but it doesn't sound good. Regards, Mike (Melbounre Australia).

  2. You mentioned that some of these problems began a few days after purchase, didnt you try to return the product to the retailer it was purchased from? Im also in Australia and if that had happened to us, it would've gone straight back to the retailer for a complete refund, nevermind the manufacturer!

  3. I saw this model advertised in the Rebel Sport catalogue and am now so pleased they were out of stock! Thank you for sharing your experience. If the company can't contact you then I certainly don't want to be dealing with them!! Julie (Geelong, Aust)

  4. I am also now grateful that Rebel Sport were sold out of these trampolines. Thank you for your time and consideration of other families. I hope you get as much from Funtek. Did you get assistance from the department of fair trading?

  5. I bought one over Xmas and I think you will find the product has been updated as there are no zips at the bottom. We had ours for 6 months now and it has been used virtually everyday and so far so good. We paid $290 for ours from Rebel and its been great value.

  6. Thanks for starting this blog. I totally agree with everthing you have said. I have one and it has all the
same problems and more!!! I would highly recommend not buying this trampoline. Do not buy!!!!! I wish you would have had this blog when I bought mine.

  7. I have had this tramploine for over six months with no issues.
I think, like an above poster, that there must be an updated model as my zips are different. Have had no troubles, used daily by two kids, in rain, wind, sun, etc and no issues.

  8. Even if they have a new model out, I still haven't had any response from their customer service. They hung us out to dry on this purchase. F- on customer service.

  10. Our trampoline lasted about 3 weeks and the bottom zipper broke, 6 months and the padding and net are junk. I have tried to contact Funtek also with no reply from them.

  12. Every thought of your consumer rights?

You can return it for a full refund to the place of purchase. Australian consumer law actually helps consumers.

  13. My FUNTEX is just over a year old. I stumble on this site looking for a replacement net and pad. I folded the bars down and covered it with a pool cover over the winter months. My funtex condition is 5x the condition shown in the picutes above. The nuts and bolts are made in china and can strip with ease. The foam padding is crumbling apart. What can I say. It looks good from a distance...

  14. We have the same problem BUT we had it for almost 2 years before this happened. It was used daily and we never covered it in the winter. My daughter used it in the freezing cold and snow. It also survived 2 hurricanes and was completely submerged under salt water so I can't complain. It is still sturdier than any other trampoline I have seen,

  15. Ours is now 8 months old, the padding on the safety bars has been deteriorating for a while which was not a big issue. Today the safety netting and the pad both fell apart. I attempted to send an email to the "info@funtek" address and was returned "mailbox full". Next will contact the company we purchased it from and see what happens. The kids love the trampoline, hopefully we will get the new parts and get more time out of it.

  17. Thanks heaps for the blog. Will rule the Funtek out of potential candidates for our upcoming trampoline purchase. I think I'll be going for a Vuly. Also pricey but have a friend with one and it's been fantastic.

  18. Every word is correct
4 month ago I bought a System Funtek Trampoline too and paid $800.00 for it.
As you mentioned: except the frame and the mat everything else is complete garbage and falls apart within 3 months.
The customer service is terrible and the guarantee is just for the frame.
Please be aware and don’t tempt to buy this product.
    It just looks good!!!

  19. I just fell through mine playing with the kids.... just after getting a replacement net for the outside. Now I need a new mat. Grrr... I thought because Rebel Sport was selling them they were going to be better than this...

    1. Where did you get a replacement net, was it from rebel sport? Ours is destroyed (after just over 12 mths use) and the padding and foam are on their way out too.

  20. We've had ours just over 12 months, it is in shade for half the day, yet all the foam over the bars has completely deteriorated, the mats on the springs are turning to dust, the trampoline has hardly been used. We bought it for safety, but are very worried now.
Has anybody tried getting a refund from Rebel Sports??

  21. our did the same thing... no longer a net on it and have no idea how to find a new one! customer service is horrible, never returned one of my 5 calls asking about replacement parts....ugggggg

  22. Mine is the same! I need a new net but can't get through to the company. Does anyone know how to get replacement parts? Are they still selling these trampolines?

  23. We have had the exact same experience.
Very poor product!!! I can't believe what an eye sore our trampoline has become in the backyard. I am embarrassed when visitors want to go out the back!

  24. We have the same experience. Everything has fallen apart. Time to report to consumer affairs in Australia

  25. Wow we have had ours coming up to 2 years and the arch covers are just starting to breakdown and so are the protective mats. The zip is still working fine. Was hoping to come on here to find out where we could get replacement parts but obviously that will be a problem.

  26. Can anyone advise me please? Most comments are about netting and pads having problems with. Im looking at a 14ft for my 13 year old so netting is not a concern, just want good base and mat. Funtek are on sale for $400 an I don't think I will use the net anyway.

  27. Trampoline part jumping pads utilized in Trampolines are constructed with woven fibbers and are safe to prevent fading whenever used out of doorways. Trampolines are a type of strong fabric sheet connected by springs to the frame, used as the springboard and landing region in doing acrobatic or even gymnastic exercises. Thank you for this nice article

  29. The following comment above dated March 13 2015 at 2.33pm was not posted by Myself Mr Assembly but I will take any free advertising from satisfied customers...it must have been a customer I did a trampoline assembly for just recently and they were obviously very impressed with my high standard and professionalism.
They must have jotted down my web address to help me out...thanks whoever it was...very much appreciate your positive feedback....thumbs up!

  30. NO good! Whole thing has fallen apart, the net has torn, the padding has peeled and come apart. We've only had it up for less than a year. Terrible product.

  32. Hello! Can anyone PLEASE tell me what size of springs are required for the Funtek 10' trampoline?? We lost ours recently in a move and I can't find that information anywhere to get them replaced. Any advice would be most welcome!!

  33. Am currently searching for replacment net (hence how I came across this blog). We purchased our Funtek trampoline at Rebel two years ago, and the net has perished, the blue foam pads are crumbling and the spring pads have also broken down. It looks terrible! I would not recommend this brand AT ALL! Can not find any replacement parts and customer service is non existent. So disspointed in what I thought was going to be a good, mid range product.
